About Emotional Freedom Reiki

Welcome! This site is here to provide information on a form of energy healing called Emotional Freedom Reiki, or EFR for short.

EFR is not an original form of energy healing. It is the synthesis of two existing healing modalities, EFT and Reiki.

All energy healing works on the individual's "subtle energy system," which is a series of pathways and energy centers in and around the body that circulate life force energy, or chi. While modern science currently cannot measure this chi, most people who have worked enough with energy healing techniques have either directly sensed this energy or indirectly validated its existence through the results they get with energy work.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is an energy healing technique that works like acupuncture or acupressure on a person's meridian systems. (Energy healing techniques that work on the meridians are also called "meridian therapies.")

The meridians are the energetic equivalent of veins that circulate chi (instead of blood) through the subtle energy system. EFT works by tapping on certain points along the meridian pathways. Stuck energy is released and healing occurs.

Reiki is a healing system that works more generally on the entire subtle energy system. No tapping or pressure is applied directly to any meridian points. Instead, the focus in Reiki is on gentle energy flow, often performed hands-on with the energy flowing through the palms of the hands.

If there is one area of focus in Reiki, it is often the chakras. The chakras are energy centers that run along the spine. There are seven major chakras that are well-known, and they deal with various emotional and physical issues. When the chakras are closed, broken, or overactive, the energetic imbalance can cause illness, emotional distress, and even blocks in someone's life path or ability to succeed.

Since Reiki and EFT work on different aspects of the energy system, it seems logical to combine the two. Many healers and people using these techniques for self-healing have been combining Reiki and EFT on their own and with clients.

My idea to label the combination as a new type of energy healing actually came to me while sleeping (during a nap, no less!). At the time, I hadn't been aware that other people were using Reiki with EFT. While I believe in God, angels, and things I can't see, I am perfectly happy experiencing these entities on a more "theoretical" level. Strangely enough, though, I felt like some "outside force" was inspiring me to use the Reiki with the EFT. It was one of those "a-ha!" moments.

I liked the results. Using Reiki with the EFT seemed to integrate the EFT work more, and made the process feel more meditative and spiritual. Simultaneously, it seemed to give my personal Reiki practice more oomph and focus.

I came up with a few basic EFR processes and started a discussion list. That's when I found out many others were already using EFT and Reiki with wonderful results.

EFR as its own, integrated system is something relatively new. Here on this website you'll find some information on EFR as a tool you can use for yourself, for your loved ones, and even professionally. You'll also find a community areas where you discuss EFR with others.

While I have certain ways of using this tool, there are many other ways of doing what I term "EFR," which really applies to any combination of EFT and Reiki. If you come up with a neat way to perform EFR, please share it so we can all benefit from it!

Aloha,
Stephanie
